SEND

The Learning Support Department aims to help provide an appropriate and high-quality education for all children. We take pride in creating an effective and supportive learning environment allowing each of our students to achieve.

Governors have a duty under s317 of the Education Act 1996 to do their best to ensure that the necessary provision is made for pupils with SEN. The school Standards and Framework Act 1998 requires governors to conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards. These high standards relate to all the pupils in the school including those with SEN.

Our SENDCO

In relation to SEN, the governing body should make sure that:

  • they are fully involved in developing and monitoring the school's SEND policy
  • all governors, especially SEND governors, are up-to-date and knowledgeable about the schools' SEN provision, including how funding, equipment and personnel resources are deployed
  • SEN provision is an integral part of the school development plan
  • the quality of SEN provision is continually monitored

Bromley Children's Project - BCP

The Bromley Children Project is a borough-wide service that supports families living in Bromley to create a safe, secure and happy environment for all children, by reaching out to expectant parents, current parents and young people aged up to 18 years; particularly those who are struggling and are in need of additional help.

Aims

  • Support families with children aged under 18 by offering quality targeted parenting courses and one-to-one family support.
  • Provide impartial information, advice and support for parents of children with special educational needs.
  • Provide impartial information and advice for all parents on their child's transition from primary school to secondary school.
  • Help all children make the most of their time at school by empowering parents, encouraging them to be enthusiastic and involved in their children’s education, and to continue their own education and training.

Information, Advice and Support Service
This service provides:

  • Impartial information, advice and support for parents of children with special educational needs.

  • Information and advice for all parents on their child's transition from primary school to secondary school.

Courses and workshops

They offer a comprehensive range of courses and drop-in sessions for parents and their children through our Children and Family Centres, such as:

  • Support for those who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse.

  • Parenting courses.

  • Baby massage.

  • Healthy eating.

  • Targeted support groups.

  • Midwives clinic, baby clinic and breastfeeding support.

Their sessions are ideal for parents and their children aged under five focusing on child development, school preparation, family support and parenting, health and wellbeing and acquiring new skills.
